Maxville strives to uphold the promise of the land by creating the highest quality wines without compromise. 18 months in French oak leads to an opulent texture with aromas of nutmeg, blueberry, vanilla and raspberry with a hint of tobacco leaf and a silky finish.

Garnet, ruby red in colour our Cabernet Franc has warm nutmeg and ripe raspberry aromas elegantly supported by hints of spice, toasty oak and an opulent texture with a persistent silky finish that keeps you wanting more. This wine has tightly structured tannins that will reward longer periods of aging.

Maxville is nestled deep in Chiles Valley of Napa Valley where over 1,000 acres are preserved in the Napa Valley Land Trust, just over 100 acres of which are planted. Farmed since 1844, Maxville strives to uphold the promise of the land by creating the highest quality wines without compromise. Maxville’s Cabernet Franc is estate bottled.

The pedigree of this Cabernet Franc reflects the unique terroir of our Chiles Valley – Napa Valley estate vineyard. Cabernet Franc has long been used as a blending grape in Bordeaux and Napa Valley, adding finesse and perfumed aromas to the more muscular Cabernet Sauvignon. A parent grape to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc has a lighter body but maintains the intense, dark fruit notes synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon. We have just under 6 acres of Cabernet Franc in our estate vineyard, divided into 3 distinct blocks.

Our 2015 Cabernet Franc accentuates the wonderful dark fruit and spice characteristics that are naturally present in Cabernet Franc grapes. Both the nose and palate display an intense aromatic profile of warm nutmeg and ripe raspberry aromas elegantly supported by hints of spice, toasty oak and an opulent texture with a persistent silky finish that keeps you wanting more. This wine has tightly structured tannins that will reward longer periods of aging.

7-day cold-soak followed by a quick, warm fermentation. The wine was left on skins for one week after primary fermentation finished. Malolactic fermentation was done in barrel; the wine was racked once post-malo and once pre-bottling.

The wine spent 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new.

Very versatile with many food groups, from a nice tomato-based pasta dish to a wonderful filet mignon.
