A complex nose of dark cherry and blackberry aromas with a hint of forest floor and spice. Vibrant dark cherry and blackberry with a hint of ‘wombat rolled in all spice’ balanced with an even, textural palate with soft, supple tannins.
First Drop is a venture between Essex boy Matt Gant and South Australian John Retsas, born out of their passion for wines of unmistakable quality, flavour, texture and “a splash of funk”. They work with eclectic varieties from unique vineyards located in the most iconic areas of Australia wine regions.
Mother’s Milk is far from being a sledgehammer style and it is intended for drinking young and fruity. Soft, smooth and textured, this Shiraz is balanced with lively acidity, which refreshes the palate and invites you back for a second glass. Sourced from three unique vineyards, the wine is matured for 12 months in old French oak hogsheads, allowing the fruit to express itself in a pure form. Fruit-laden, savoury and dangerously easy to drink, dark cherry, forest floor and blackberry aromas grace the nose, whilst the palate is replete with flavours of vibrant dark cherry, plum crumble, Christmas spices, blackberry, biltong, tar and a hint of allspice.
First Drop don't use animal products in the fining of their wines, making the entire range vegan friendly. When it comes to milk vegans would argue that if it’s not your Mum, then it’s not your milk. Luckily First Drop have now provided the adult version of Mother’s Milk.
"This is a blend of three vineyards in the Barossa Valley and one in Eden Valley. Aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and tar here with a touch of liquorice and dark plum. The palate has a velvety texture with dark plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. Bold flavours here."
