Immediate citrus aromas appear on the nose. Perfume of neroli rises through the glass. Elegant vanilla introduces oak to the senses. On palate the wine shows great elegance and refreshing acidity. It lingers on the aftertaste.
Our Chardonnay is sourced from premium vineyards in the Franschoek valley. The grapes are hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed, then fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast strains. Cold fermentation at 15⁰C ensures the formation and preservation of the typical cultivar aromas and the development of unique flavour profiles. The Chardonnay was fermented in 500L and 600L French oak barrels for 16 months to provide extra complexity and palate weight. The eventual blend is a combination of ripe fruit flavours and mellow oak nuances.
Grande Provence Wine Estate wears her 325-year history with dignity. Nestled in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley in South Africa’s Western Cape, her lush vines spread across 47 acres. Rolling vistas frame the valley floor and heighten the drama of the rugged mountains beyond. Barely a one-hour drive from Cape Town, this is heartland South African Wine Country at its very finest.
Over 325 years ago, French Protestant Pierre Joubert hid his bible in a loaf of bread and fled his home town of La Motte-d’Aigues in Provence to avoid religious persecution. In 1694, along with other Huguenots, he arrived in Olifantshoek (Elephants Corner; later to be renamed Franschhoek).
This wine is well suited to poultry and pork dishes but can also be favourably paired with well ripened cheeses or grilled fruits.
