An unoaked Chardonnay with intense, lively citrus fruit and apple skin aromas. Quite full on the palate with ripe peach and apricot characters balanced by crisp acidity.
The Bodega de Sarria lies on a large and beautiful estate in the hills above Puenta la Reina, near Pamplona. Vineyards cover 210 hectares, mainly south facing slopes at 400-500m altitude, planted primarily with Tempranillo, Graciano (the most extensive plantings of the variety in Spain), Garnacha, Cabernet, Merlot, Mazuelo and Chardonnay. Founded in 1953, Sarria was one of the pioneers of quality winemaking in Navarra. The range excels in all areas - including the complex and spicy Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
Bodega de Sarria is located in the heart of Valdizarbe, covering a total area of 210 hectares. The vineyards are south facing and their altitude ranges from 394 to 539 metres above sea level. Average rainfall is 400 to 600 I/m2 per year. Senorio de Sarria Chardonnay is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes from 15 year old vines. The grapes are harvested by hand and machine during September and October.
The grapes are pressed by pneumatic press and the resulting must is left in contact with the skins during the brief maceration in stainless steel tanks. The must is then extracted and cooled for 16 hours to aid natural clarification. The clean must is decanted and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel at 16 degrees C for 12-15 days.
This wine is ideal for light dishes such as seafood, fish and roast chicken. 2014 Vintage: Sommelier Wine Awards 2015 - Silver
014 Vintage: "‘Aromatic melon and peach nose, delivering a punchy, tropical melon palate and moreish citrus fruit, with some crisp acidic lime notes to finish,’ said Claire Love of Loves Restaurant, with team leader Olivier Marie noting: ‘Stone fruit and lime blossom, with lemony character and herbal, grassy, under-ripe fruit touches.’" Sommelier Wine Awards 2015, Judges Comments
