Magenta in colour with a full depth hue. The aroma is a delightful mix of mulberries and violets with a hint of rhubarb. An opulent mix of warm berry compote, juicy dark red plums, dark chocolate and cloves with a hint of nutmeg. The finish is long and lingering with mouth watering tannins.

The Menzies Vineyard, Yalumba's premiurn Cabernet Sauvignon estate, was established in the world-famous region of Coonawarra in 1975. The terroir is defined by rod brown earth over limestone, perfect for growing grapes for full-bodied, structured red wine.

The growing season began after excellent late winter and early spring rains had replenished the soil profiles. Mild weather at flowering ensured a lovely, even fruit set on bunches. The weather leading up to and including harvest will be remembered for being dry and mild. This resulted in grapes that retained freshness, acidity and wonderfully expressive flavours.

Matured for 16 months in new French oak hogsheads, barriques and Hungarian oak hogsheads (22%), one year old American oak barriques (9%), balance in older French, American and Hungarian oak.
