A very deep and brilliant purple to ruby colour. Beautiful aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry with a hint of whortleberry. On the palate this wine shows a lot in different stages and always with a lot of roundness. Very complex with its flavours of dark fruit combined with lovely hints of vanilla, chocolate, toffee and coffee. The tannins are extraordinary silky and the wine has a long and savoury aftertaste. Perfect to drink now this wine can be kept three to five more years.
Partially handpicked harvest with selective sorting out on conveyor belt. A Traditional vilification in small tanks corresponding to every different parcel of the vineyard.- And Ageing in oak casks for 12 months with 20% new oak.
40 hectares of which 0,37 hectares of vines with white varietals composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vineyard is 35 years.
Rather anonymous in the 70’s but well-known by the insiders, this appellation has been recognized by famous winemakers in the middle of the 80’s. Dominique Hébrard, owner of Château Cheval Blanc at this time and Hubert de Boüard, owner of Château Angélus were the first one when they bought together the Château de Francs.
92 James Suckling, "A juicy red with berry, rust, wet-earth and stone aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins and a flavourful finish. Lots of character. Drink after 2022."
