A nose of cherry, baked earth, spice and almost savoury aromas, lead to a silky smooth palate of sour cherry, herbs, leather with some floral notes, including violets. The finish provides some refreshing astringency and good acidity.
The grapes are grown on 2 small parcels totalling 3.5 ha, from vines in excess of 60 years old. The d'Annona vineyard is owned by the winemaker, ensuring that the best possible viticultural practices are employed for quality grapes and a special wine.
Aged for 20 months in French oak barriques.
Perfect with Carne cruda (steak tartare in France) and also really good with lamb cutlets, steak or a rich Piemontese bean stew.
