Ponting Wines is a collaboration between one of Australia’s most celebrated cricketers, Ricky Ponting and Ben Riggs, an award-winning Australian winemaker known for uncompromising, high quality wines. Masters of their craft, their partnership has been forged to celebrate their dedication and achievements.

Each wine reflects Ricky’s life and has been carefully crafted by Ben to ensure flavour, structure and complexity are of the highest quality.

The Adelaide Hills is located in the Mount Lofty Ranges, east of Adelaide. One of the largest geographical wine regions in Australia its diversity in terms of altitude, climate and soil helps it produce its distinctive cool climate wines.

A consistently cool growing season throughout the 2022 vintage, without any long stretches of significant heat, have been great for maintaining freshness and acidity in the fruit. Ideal conditions throughout ripening and harvest, yields remained high with excellent flavour development and acid retention.

The fruit for our 'Top Order' Chardonnay was hand-selected from the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills, where the lower temperatures allow for tempered, even ripening. Beautifully fragrant in flavour, balanced with natural acidity, aged in old French barriques with a portion in tank maturation, produced an elegantly layered and textural wine.
