A wine made to lament tradition. Intense wet earth and mature vineyard nuances. Aromas of ripe cherry orchard and fresh eucalyptus recall moments, experiences of generations of wine growing. Full bodied with soft ripe tannins and bright acidity showing rustic notes of clay minerality that take us back in time.
João Barbosa is dedicated to making unique wines, the result of the specific terroirs of each plot of land where he cultivates his own vineyards. Wines with character, individuality and out of the norm.
“Obvious” and “easy” have no place in our company, where all the members of the family collaborate with total dedication to produce the best and most unique wine from our land, both in the Alentejo and the Tejo (regions).
The blue rose was chosen to symbolize our brands because it evokes unattainable perfection, a commitment to excellence, while at the same time taking great care to satisfy the large family we have created over the years of production.
The NINFA wines originate from rich clay-limestone soils, with a large capacity for exchange with the plants.
Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence, high temperature variation, complete southern exposure of the vines.
Vineyard planted on a slope, providing good soil drainage and contributing to the balance of the vines and results in small productions, and concentrated grapes with acidity potential.
Produces fresh wines with longevity.
The vineyard location experiences Mediterranean climate as a result of proximity to the Atlantic. The slope of the south-facing vineyards provide maximum exposure and ideal drainage while extreme diurnal temperatures ensure freshness and balance. Calcareous-clay soils and low yields ensure ageable wines of concentration and structure.
Castelão, Trincadeira, Camarate, Alicante-Bouschet among others. Harvested when phenolic maturity and acidity reached equilibrium. Selected bunches are foot trodden in open lagares where they undergo maceration and fermentation performed by indigenous vineyard yeasts.
