Bright red in colour with deep crimson hues. The nose is elevated and brimming full of dark fruits, redolent red berries and light oaky char with sweet spice and dried herbs. The palate shows poise and symmetry, the Grenache and Shiraz in perfect sync on the front and centre of the palate. Dark cherries and sweet spice from the Grenache alongside full bodied plum and chocolate notes from the Shiraz are at the fore. Seamlessly intertwined with cured meats and dried herbs from the Mataro are further enhanced by firm tannins and subtle charry French oak nuances.
Killerman’s Run GSM reflects the rich landscape and being at one with the environment by sourcing and blending wines from right across the Clare Valley into a seamless, natural and uncompromising wine. A second consecutive dry year, coupled with higher-than-average temperatures made for the 2019/20 growing season, resulting in yields being down by as much as 30%. The new year brought milder temperatures which gave the vines much needed relief, providing ideal ripening conditions for flavour development and acid retention. Made in a true Rhône Valley style, all of the components were vinified and matured individually in a range of seasoned French oak hogsheads for 15 months before final assemblage and bottling unfined and unfiltered to further complement the wines appeal. Maturation provides a softness and elegance to the silky palate.
Tapas sharing plates & meze, spicy red meat dishes. Delicious with Chorizo and porcini risotto. This wine has the potential of at least 8 years.
