Creamy, elegant and fresh with citrus, white peach, and green tea aromas with distinct floral notes. Voluminous, juicy fruit flavors of pear and zest that are both agile and long on the palate. A complex, lasting, mineral finish that is refreshing, deep, and satisfying.
This is a delicious single vineyard wine made from the Merseguera variety. Labelled Vino de Espana as it does not confirm to any DO. Merseguera was close to extinction a few years ago, traditionally high yielding, low acid and frankly not very good! Here in the Utiel Requena region in the province of Valencia the 900m above sea level vineyards produce something quite special. The yields are much lower, the vines all planted on calcareous soils. The grapes are fairly late to ripen. Organic production, wild yeasts and no oak, Stone fruit, quite floral with a touch of spice on the nose- not a million miles from Gruner Veltliner.
Ideal as an apéritif, or paired with blue cheeses and foie gras.
