Outstanding, well-priced Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, sourced from a vineyard site reputed to date back to the Middle Ages.
Pretty with lovely fruit aromas of damsons and a hint of strawberry. Nicely balanced structure with good concentration and depth which carries through to the long finish. A classic and delicious Saint-Émilion - well made and elegant.
A portion of the 25-30 year old vines are situated at the base of the Saint Christophe des Bardes slope, the rest are situated on the gravel soils of Saint Sulpice. Vines are planted on old sandy soils, sandstone and gravel. Fruit is manually and machine harvested. After a cold soak pre fermentation, a 3-4 week maceration in temperature controlled tanks follows, with regular punching down. Before bottling the wine is aged for 12-15 months in barrel, 30% new of which are new.
Excellent with Côte de Boeuf.
