Expressive and generous on the nose, with aromas of citrus, white currant, and a touch of flinty minerality. The palate is round and precise, with flavours of grapefruit, white flowers, and fresh green herbs.
If you think Sancerre has sold out and the style has turned to please the masses, then Pouilly-Fume is your remedy. The soils produce a much more minerally note with smoky gun flint on the nose (hence the fumé), higher acid and heavier herbs. None of the tropical qualities, just pure old-school French Sauvignon Blanc with crisp green apples, lime zest, Bosch pears, thyme and salty acidity. Beautifully rustic and bright!
