Vermouth is a style of Fortified wine flavoured with aromatic herbs and spice. Naturally flavoured by plants and spices. Partially aged in oak barrels in cool, dark cellars. A sweet wine based aperitif.
First sold in 1846 by Joseph Dubonnet in response to a competition by the French Government to encourage soldiers to drink quinine to help combat malaria.
Elizabeth II was known to love a Dubonnet, so much so that she gave it a Royal Warrant in November 2021. She preferred a cocktail of two parts Dubonnet to one part gin, garnished with lemon.
