Affectionately dubbed the “President's Choice”, the Brut was served at both Nelson Mandela's inauguration and Barack Obama's presidential win.
This is a benchmark fizz with a beautiful harmony between lengthy Chardonnay and fragrant Pinot Noir. The result is a sparkling wine with a fine mousse giving freshness and finesse, elegant ripe fruit and light yeast aromas, and a rich creamy complexity on the palate.
Graham Beck is a giant of the South African wine scene and has led the country's thundering success since the end of Apartheid in 1994, a year that saw Nelson Mandela toast his inauguration as President with a flute of Beck's Brut NV (as indeed did Barack Obama, when celebrating his election as the 44th American president!).
Fizz remains a key part of the Beck portfolio and the sparkling wines are rightly recognised as among the best in the New World. Based in Robertson, a second cellar in Franschhoek has been built to further extend the company's potential. Pieter 'Bubbles' Ferreira retains overall control of the winemaking with the talented Erika Obermeyer and Irene Waller heading up the Franschhoek and Robertson wineries respectively.
