In 1888 Spyros Metaxa, by blending only the finest matured wine distillates with the selected sun soaked grapes of Attica, created this distinctive spirit giving it a unique smooth and mellow taste, neat, or on the rocks.

The exact formula has remained a closely guarded secret ever since.

It is a blend of brandy and wine made from sun-dried Savatiano, Sultana and Black Corinth grape varieties. It is then blended with an aged Muscat wine from the Greek islands of Samos and Lemnos.

Metaxa, exported to over 60 countries, was the first alcoholic drink consumed in space.
