Rich aromas of dark fruits, candied peel, rose petal and spice with a hint of tobacco and menthol. The palate is complex with ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry, fine tannins and notes of black pepper. Elegant and long.
This Valpolicella Superiore is the perfect expression of the Morandina Cru - an outstanding addition to the Prà range. Cultivated since Graziano acquired the vineyard in 2001, the vines at the Morandina vineyard are now mature enough to create the wine that he has long dreamed of making. The Morandina vineyard is on high ground with a characteristic limestone soil, in the environs of the Lessini mountains. This footprint of the territory gives the red wines their distinctive elegance, balanced perfectly by the strength and complexity from late harvesting and the experience acquired by Graziano as a producer of premium Valpolicella.
The vines are over 20 years old and grow in the Morandina vineyard near the Lessini monutains, at 450 metres altitude. It has characteristic limestone, calcareous soils and a south-easterly exposure. A blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella (plus 5% Oseleta), the vine shoots are cut allowing the grapes to dry for a month on the vine before harvesting. After fermentation the wine is aged for 18 months in barrel.
Perfect with slow-cooked lamb shank.
