Pleasantly warm fruit notes on the nose of blackberries, licorice, black pepper, cloves, some orange zest, chocolate apricots, figs and black tea. Wonderfully juicy and meaty on the palate, dense with a lot of ripe fruit, a strong body and velvety tannins, pleasant spicy “steppe” flavor in the aftertaste, black olives, orange confit, black tea, fine nougat and berry fruit.
Pleasure. For family Salzl that is a good glass of wine that reflects the warmth, the joie de vivre, the uniqueness of the Seewinkel Area. Illmitz is not only the home town of the Salzls, their vines also grow here in between the nationalpark Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel - a world heritage region. It is an obligation for Christoph Salzl, a mission and an honor at the same time, not only to live in this region, but to wholeheartedly appreciate and protect this privilege. Three generations of Salzls work with a lot of experience, heart and soul to vinificate great wines with passion.
The vineyard is chernozem similar to loess consisting of sandy clay with a high amount of gravel. Traditional mash fermentation in steel tanks at 30 °C, 14 days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Try with white meat (for example veal, pork).
