Everything you’d expect from classic Albariño, driving lime citrus, touches of white apricot and lip smacking acidity. The taste is mouth-filling, fresh, clean and has a firm body. Sublime Spanish white wine!
Vina Costeira was established back in 1968 as a slightly rebellious way to the norm of prioritising the recovery of the historic grape varieties of Galicia: Loureira, Godello, Albariño & Treixadura.
Albariño is certainly the most important grape of the Rías Baixas DO wine region. The special terroir with a soil of crumbling granite, regular rainfall and the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean allows the pure expression of the grape to be fully appreciated here.
Via Barrosa Albariño is made from 100% Albariño grapes from the Val de Salnes sub-zone in Rias Baixas, the historic home of Albariño. This sub-zone is the wettest of all Rias Baixas zones and produces dry, complex wines with high acidity.
Handpicked harvest, traditional fermentation in stainless steel with ageing on the lees.
Albariño is synonymous with seafood (oysters clams, mussels, fish crustaceans) and is a bedrock of Galician cuisine. It also pairs particularly well with creamy chicken dishes, risottos and Asian meals with Tofu. A beautiful match for Spanish Manchego, and salty feta. Albariño is fresh and bright and is outstanding with grilled vegetables and salads.
