Mild and dry with higher-than-average temperatures, the 2018 harvest will be memorable for Terrazas de los Andes, with the grapes reaching their full fruity expression while maintaining acidity.
Offering fresh aromas of citrus and lime blossom, white flowers and a hint of toast from oak aging, this is a wine with great balance, versatility and complexity.
Characterized by fruits of exceptional quality, the 2018 harvest produced grapes with great concentration and acidity. Grown in the Uco Valley, 4,100 feet above sea level, the chardonnay (100%) grapes in this wine were hand-harvested and the wine aged in oak (60%) and stainless steel (40%) before spending another three months in the bottle.
The latest Terrazas Reserva Chardonnay continues to surprise me every day. Its fantastic level of natural acidity allows us a subtle winemaking, which results in a very elegant white. During blind wine tastings, I remember many people were surprised by its French-driven style!
"Brimming with fresh curry-leaf and struck-match aromas, this is a wine with a very distinctive (‘reductive’) character. It’s well judged, though, and has just enough fruit weight to balance the toasty, savoury overlay. A food wine – put it with chicken and mushroom pie or a chunk of cheddar.
