A 2009 Port Charlotte heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, MC:01 was matured in ex-Marsala wine casks for nine years, before being bottled as part of its Cask Exploration series. Aromas of soft peat smoke, dried fruit, candied orange peel, caramel, rubber and ginger fill the nose, complemented by notes of oily tar, black pepper, white pepper, cinnamon, soot, leather, peat smoke and toasted hazelnuts throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
