Light golden colour, limpid and crystalline, often with greenish highlights. In the Cote-d’Or it is hazelnut with a hint of honey, butter, bracken, spices and sugared chestnuts. A rich style with creamy flavours that are balanced by a good freshness.

Based in the village of St-Aubin, the Roux family own 70 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Domaines Roux dates back to 1885, and the current generation, brothers Sebastien and Mathieu, have propelled Domaines Roux into one of the leading producers in Burgundy. The current team in charge of production consists of brothers Mathieu (winemaking) and Sebastian (the business side of the domaine) and their drive and energy has seen a notable rise in quality. A fantastic, modern cellar has been built overlooking St Aubin village and the business’ negociant arm extended to include ever more wines. The domaine owns vineyards in most of the main appellations, all the way up to Grand Cru.

The “Les Murelles” vineyard is situated within the Bourgogne appellation, benefiting from Burgundy’s continental climate, characterized by cold winters and warm summers. The vineyard’s soils are predominantly limestone and clay, providing excellent drainage and contributing to the minerality and complexity of the Chardonnay grapes cultivated there. The 2021 growing season experienced favorable conditions, with a mild spring followed by a warm summer, allowing for optimal ripening and flavour development in the grapes.

This Chardonnay pairs well with a variety of dishes, including roasted poultry, creamy pasta dishes, and soft cheeses. Its balanced acidity and mineral notes complement seafood dishes such as grilled salmon or seared scallops. The wine’s richness also makes it a good match for dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles.
