Fontella Chianti is a traditional Italian red, with a typical Chianti nose, smooth, medium-bodied palate, with an attractive lingering finish.
The grapes are de-stemmed and soft crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 25°C, and lasts around 12 days.
Frequent remontage occurs throughout fermentation in order to extract colour and achieve soft tannins. Malolactic fermentation is carried out. The juice is left in contact with the skins for 8 –10 days.
The wine is aged for three months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Casa Girelli was founded by a family from Verona in the late 1800s. From one generation to the next, the business of vintners and winemakers took the family to Trento, where they established their existing company in 1966. After the Second World War, Casa Girelli started increasing its production by seeking the best vineyards in Italy and travelling the world to explore new markets.
A very versatile wine, ideally paired with structured main dishes. It also goes well with roast meat, red meat and cheeses.
