Stunning Beaujolais from a legendary producer. Soft and juicy with lovely red-berry intensity that makes it ideal alongside cured meats.
This is a totally new wine from this exceptional Beaujolais domaine which produces a collection of wines with minimal intervention, both on the vines and in the winery. The wine is made from three parcels of Gamay, grown on granitic, poor soils near the Villie-Morgon. It is a wonderfully pure expression of this lovely strawberry-fruited variety, and, like all the wines made by Mathieu Lapierre and his team, it has a delightful, natural feel and masses of drinkability.
The approach of this stunning Beaujolais producer focusses on purity and respect for the land and the elements. They have a simple philosophy, that the more they respect the soil and grapes, the more their unique, poor quality granitic soils can be expressed in the wines, and they can keep the winemaking unintrusive and natural, like it would have been many years ago.
"A fresh raspberry fruited Beaujolais that is lovely when served slightly chilled in warmer months or paired with cured meats and a selection of hard cheeses in the cooler months of the year. It can and should be enjoyed all year round and is pure example of the Gamay grape grown organically in our lovely sustainable focussed vineyards." - Mathieu Lapierre, Winemaker.
