The wine is made from a classic Bordeaux blend with 54% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Merlot gives fullness and freshness to the fruit, Cabernet Sauvignon adds notes of cedar and cassis, and Petit Verdot contributes complexity and structure. The color is dark brick red. The aroma and taste offer fresh dark berries and fruits, vanilla and a touch of oak. A very well-balanced wine with an elegant finish.

The baronial estate of du Breuil dates back to the 6th century which means that it is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc. The ruins of the old fortress are still impressive and there are many curious legends connected with it, not least being those about the Dame Douce, dating back to the 10th century. The vineyards adjoin those of Château Cissac.
They slope in the direction of the south-south-east, towards a stream with its precious "micro-climat" which, having watered the valley over-looked on one side by Château Lafite and on the other by Château Cos d'Estournel, flows into the Gironde below Pauillac.
