Mikkeller was created as a hobby project in Mikkel Borg Bjergso’s Kitchen in Copenhagen in 2003. The ambition was (and still is) to make the world’s best beer. In 2006 we had a break through on the international beer site Ratebeer.com with the stout Beer Geek Breakfast, which was declared the best stout in the world. Demand from the US forced Mikkel to leave the kitchen and find new brewing facilities. With no funding to build his own brewery, he had to find alternative methods. The business model ‘gypsy brewing’ was invented. Not making any big investments and exporting to the US as first market - two decisions that shaped the company’s DNA.

Hoppy, bitter, clean and easy drinking. Notes of pine and citrus fruits make the IPA one of the most recognizable beer styles. The bitterness of the IPA helps cool off any spicy element in food, so it works incredibly well with your favourite Mexican food. Pairing an IPA with a spicy chicken taco with fresh jalapenos enhances both the beer and the food. Both the beer and tacos show fresh elements of lime and herbs and can be enjoyed the most in a sunny outside setting.
